I thought this quote from Ever After was funny:

And what happens to the person you’re supposed to be with – what if she never appears, or she does, but you’re too distracted to notice?
Leonardo: You learn to pay attention.
Henry: Then let’s say... God puts two people on earth and they are lucky enough to find one another. But - one of them gets hit by lightning. Well then what? Is that it? Or perchance you marry all over again – is that the lady you were supposed to be with or was it the first? And if so, if the both of them were walking side by side, were they both the one for you and you just happened to meet the first one first, or… was the second one supposed to be first?
And is everything just chance or... are some things meant to be.
Leonardo: You cannot leave everything to fate boy. She has a lot to do - sometimes you must give her a hand!

That's so funny... I just watched "Ever After" yesterday!! (and I hadn't seen it in ages). It is a very sweet movie and I must say, I was never more delighted to see two characters demoted to the position of "servant"! (i.e. step-mother and Margerite).

Yes, Ever After is such a sweet and fun movie. It is one of my personal favorites!! :)
I would have to say that young man in is quite a fix. :-)
I think maybe he needs to know something called predestination. God has planned it all. So if the person He thinks should be His "only one" and that person gets struck by lightening then obviously God wanted that person to be struck by lightening. Now, that may not sound very nice but that is a fact of life.
